The Heavy Hitter is pounding the pavement… the city roars all around him at his command. He goes into Burger King to buy a sandwich and recruits the cashier into selling his multivitamins. On the way back home in his luxurious car, he is on the phone dialing prospects left and right… sponsoring close to 40% ratios. People are loving him, he’s on fire, he’s giving people the possibility that they too can grow and be like him. That they too can be a heavy hitter, like the Heavy Hitter.
It is as the Universe commands that a great moment of destiny comes to intervene between the Heavy Hitter. A new chapter is starting to unfold and the Heavy Hitter is even yet unaware of the turning page. You see Heavy Hitter is making 40k a month with his company, his opportunity goes strong but then he gets a call.
It’s CEO, and CEO doesn’t sound happy, “Heavy Hitter… I got bad news.”
“What? What do you mean CEO?” Heavy Hitter replies, hints of nervousness puts his voice at edge.
“The company is in trouble Heavy Hitter. Big trouble. How many people are in your downline?”
“Oh I don’t know, I haven’t looked at my back office in a couple of days. Things are duplicating big-time you know. Probably 20,000 people?”
“Yeah…” CEO sighs. Then… he says it… “You have zero people as of now. The company collapsed… we lost our merchant accounts… the infrastructure… it wasn’t ready… I’m sorry Heavy Hitter.”
Heavy Hitter’s heart goes cold. What will he do? “What about my family?! Why couldn’t you tell me earlier CEO?! How could you do this?!”
CEO feels threatened, “Hey! Don’t get on my case! If you’re so skilled why not go build another one, jerk!”
All civility flies out the window, Heavy Hitter hangs up the phone as he pulls into his garage. He’s got to think quickly. How is he going to build a huge organization the fastest? He had built his last company over a period of 3 years and he was broke without any liabilities other than food and rent back then. Now he had a house, the start of a family and practically been laid off by his own business.
This sucked.
He could get a job. His head fell against his steering wheel. He didn’t want to be Just Over Broke all over again.
“Alright…” He breathed. “Pull yourself together Hitter. I’m going do this.”
He spends the first two days not telling his family. Afraid as to what their worries may have. He finds a new opportunity, one that looks very stable. It is like starting a new relationship with someone. All that work he had put in… all those memories. But he can’t remain single long in this industry, he’s got to have his partner.
Finding the opportunity he decides to call home, he goes to his contact list. He has kept a list of thousands of peoples names that he has talked to and has even segmented them by their niches and strengths and interests. He looks down the list and smiles, an idea comes to him.
He dials the phone. The ring goes on for three times and he almost hangs up when… “Hello?”
“Fish! Is that you?” Says Heavy Hitter.
“Wow, how the heck is it going Heavy Hitter. Haven’t spoken to you in a while. What you been up to?” Says Big Fish.
“I am working a new venture. How about yourself?”
“Oh great. I’ve just been doing the real estate thing, became a broker. Man I’m getting sick of these long lulls between sales and having to make them over and over again every single month. Starting to think of getting out of the business. What’s your new venture?”
And so it starts… A beautiful journey.
One of love… heroism… and skill.
It is only a few months down the road when Heavy Hitter finds himself almost back up to the exact same level he had built himself to with his other opportunity. And he realizes… the skills he learned can never be taken away; only be gained upon and grown.
What is the lesson?
When you first start in network marketing you got to bust ass and get things going. Get a downline growing and setup and really put forth that entrepreneurial effort. You got to prospect the HECK out of it, just like Heavy Hitter was doing.
Notice though what Heavy Hitter ended up doing. Faced with a powerful challenge of losing everything he decided to be an entrepreneur… not an employee… not a victim. He struggled with himself big time but he decided to push forth cause of his love of his life.
You see… network marketing can give you the life you want and desire like hardly any other opportunities that exist. Heavy Hitter knew this and his love for this industry helped make a very heroic choice.
He stood up to Fear.
Who do you think was in his office the whole time? Fear was there whispering sweet poison into Heavy Hitter’s ears. Heavy Hitter would have nothing of Fear though. He would not listen, for he knew that his strategy would work. That the Big Fish would come through swimming strong.
This is a show of skill by Heavy Hitter. Over the years he had segmented a huge contact database of people he had talked to and had sponsored or had gotten interest in his previous opportunity. He had one segmentation list called Big Fishes. The Big Fishes swam in a large lake, where most people were content only with a small pond.
He called all the Big Fishes he knew and they built a huge downline of his in record time.
Why? Because Heavy Hitter had the skill to understand how to use spheres of influence to his advantage, added with leverage. Using this skill and his ability to prospect he was able to train each Big Fish easily like how he would any other person, and get them to see his Vision. He had invested in Leadership skills and Motivational skills as well as the How-To’s of promoting the business.
The Big Fishes not all joined him, but the ones who swam with him learned quickly and absorbed the information. It wasn’t long before more Big Fishes appeared that had swam in the same lakes that Heavy Hitter had found his in. Soon the downline exploded and the heroic battle against Fear had been won.
Fear crawled back into the darkness of the subconscious. Not destroyed but put at bay by the power of love, passion, heroism and skill to combine forth to create unbridled confidence in Heavy Hitter’s soul.
It was this test that made Heavy Hitter know that now he was truly a free man. Not limited by opportunity or company, by product or compensation, but only by the skill he himself would invest back into himself and his skillsets.
I hope you are like the Heavy Hitter and invest in your skillsets too.

My favorite part is be an entrepreneur not an employee. Great post
Mike
This all sounds good heavy hitter.
How is this any different from the thousands of other marketing pages out there?
No matter what the size of fish out there, they all get caught, sooner or later.
What are you actually selling?
Only the truth would be a good place to get a person to do some alternative thinking!!!!!!
I love this story because it has so many lessons! The story of hope is so strong. We all have challenges… everyone, but we can look to the future to fuel us to get through them.
I have had some major challenges over the past 6 months and it helps to know I am not the only one.
Thanks Greg!
@Mike: Thank you for comment Mike! Yes, Joe Heavy Hitter hates the idea of a J-O-B and it is part of what drove him so hardcore when his opportunity went out.
@Brett Young: Hey buddy thank you for reading it! I am glad you saw the lessons and the story of hope. It is true, persistence to a powerful obstacle can pay out.
@Rod: I am not exactly sure what you’re saying Rod. I will try to answer the best I can though I’d appreciate it if you clarify more. By marketing pages, are you asking me how is my blog different from the thousands of other marketing blogs? I have no clue, you tell me, I like to think I’m unique since this blog is about me and my experiences and personal knowledge, yet as an artist I know that all creativity is unoriginal.
Not all fish get caught either. Some swim off to the big ocean and are never seen again. Some unfortunately just die from old age, as no fisher ever came by to bring them up out of the water and into the possibilities of what could be.
In terms of what I am selling? Well I am selling primarily myself in terms of this blog. It is personal branding, it helps for your prospects to know who you are before they buy anything from you. In my various marketing funnels, I often lead people back to my blog and also invite them to add me on Facebook as it shows I am real. In terms of people just coming to my blog for the first time, I hope it sells myself as a good person of quality integrity. That way whenever I promote an affiliate product or a network marketing opportunity, people will have faith in what I say about those products/opportunities because they’ve read my blog and seen I am honest.
On the truth, I totally agree. I’ve never lied before and I don’t plan on ever doing it. Lying is just bad practice and does not lead to financail freedom, only financial corruption and ultimately in many cases financial ruin.
I hope this helps Rod!

PS. I am probably going make a blog post out of that one!
Nice story Greg!
Thanks for the great story Greg. Your story embodies what I see as the key to being or becoming successful…..the willingness to swim in the big ponds and let fear have it’s place, but not dominate you. Opportunity is where you see it, and the ability to see opportunity even when your ‘world’ is collapsing is what separates the achievers from the rest of the population.
Good work. Be great,
