You are now on the precipice of a great challenge in your life. You have yet to see the success you know should be yours. The dreams you had to build an empire have shriveled to just a few more bucks an hour.
Your dreams of freedom have become victim to wage-slavery. Off on the horizon you see the restructuring coming. A long haunting nightmare, it makes the hair on your neck shudder.
Why haven’t I come into the success I promised myself?
I am going tell you why.
From a Cave From Where it Slept, It Awoke Slow
In each of us is the potential for such amazing things that it puts the sky to shame with our possibility. Everyone who is reading this is a thinking, working, intellectual who has the seed for vision.
You are very lucky. Most will never have vision, and most will become a slave of some vice or another… but not you if you tread carefully.
Inside of us all is that beast that is us at our optimum level. I use the word beast because it conjures up such a vivid image of primal savagery, beasts are not complex… they are driven by simple emotion.
Hunger… eat… tired… sleep.
Like a bear you might find yourself hibernating. It is time to wake up. It is time to tear down the fake false show of reality given to us in school. Where we are locked in the 9 to 5 crunch, where we are told to save and retire when our bones break and our backs ache.
You are yawning, you awaking in the dark of your cave. It is almost time to go meet that brave new world.
In the Worse of Situations Is Where Everyone Begins
You will never awake in a place of gold and bliss. Never in a palace of abundance or positive energy. When you begin your journey to become what you know you deserve, it will be the cold grimy dark of a cave.
Often you will be alone in this cave.
Your only companion your passion, your desire.
I say this not to scare you but to aid you in your journey. The caverns are dark, long and twisted. You can find your way out, but don’t stop thinking there will be a better time to break out.
If you go to sleep in the cave, I promise you… you will only awake to the same darkness that had stopped you before. You must push through this. You must triumph over it if you are to control your life.
Remember, all journeys to greatness start with a struggle.
To have an extraordinary life you must not be ordinary. To go from normal to amazing is a process of discipline, commitment, focused energy targeting your one goal.
That shaft of light!
Walk, Run, Roar, Never Tire
If you keep walking through this cave. Or at a sprint, jog, if you scream out to see where the echoes might lead and never tire, I promise you will one day have your dreams.
The cure to all sicknesses that cause the unfulfilled life is action. Keep running! Keep walking! Keep testing new twists and turns in the cavern. The shaft of light is always closer even if you make the wrong turn.
Mentally map out the place. For every failure mark it down and why it was a failure. Learn from your mistakes, learn from your mentors, and you will become the mentor.
Only when you commit to action that never tires, to exposure that never wears, will you begin to fulfill the promise of leaving the cave.
Like a beast you must be primal in your attack. Simple, but with such overbearing emotion you will not be stopped. For when the bear is hungry, he will not laydown to rest till a berry is found, till a fish is caught.
Push ego aside and go find the berries.
When you find them, you’ll suddenly see the blinding light of the Sun casting down upon you. A great beacon of hope that beams down rays of warmth.
Your smile shall be large, your heart shall pump, your soul shall dance. You have made it out of the dark… but the journey is not over.
Through the Forest We Go, Endless and Unforgiving
Once you have reached the forest you will have the tendency to fall back. That maybe your momentum can be put on a shelf now. Maybe it is time to relax, spend the rest of your life feasting on the berries you have harvested.
If you do this, I will give you another promise.
That cave you left, its power shall grow and the granite with shrieking creak will stretch out till you are again in the dark. The cavern will rearrange its labyrinth so you must begin again the long fight for your control.
Never let this happen.
Once in the Forest, keep running onwards. Always be willing to go further and never tire. You can only coast downhill.
In the forest you will find predators that will attack you. There will be floods, earthquakes that tremor the worlds around you, great obstacles that will stall you. They all attempt to paralyze you, but you will not be.
You are the beast of the forest and your ears will remain sharp. You will hunt but with the caution understanding that this beautiful world is home to all sorts of creatures, both good and bad.
The True Form of Freedom is Not Your Leisure But Your Discipline
Train your claws, your teeth, your mind. Never use them to the point of exhaustion and that of a dull blade.
Constantly improve yourself.
Because if you are to own your soul you must put so much miles between you and that cave that there is not enough stone in this earth for it to stretch out to overtake you.
Once you do that, decide & commit you will continually grow. Continually develop yourself into a pinnacle of strength, achievement, fulfillment.
That is when the obstacles, the predators, the disasters of the forest will fade.
You will be the top of the food chain.
Or in other words, a badass. ; )
Go be a badass!
To the top,
-Gregory Elfrink
